Abstract

Abstract
This paper examines the inuence of personal factors as the indicators that effect both
high employee and organizational performance which has been the central concern of
organizations for decades. The study employed quantitative research, whereby data was
analyzed using SPSS and PLS-SEM. Also the study used cross sectional method on 302
participants from ve polytechnics in three state of North West Nigerian region. The
paper revealed that self-esteem (SE) and perceived control (PC) had signicance and
positive inuence on the employees (lecturers) performance. However, optimism (OP) had
a negative inuence on the employee performance (EP).This paper therefore recommend
that the management of polytechnics should pay more attention in hiring lecturers with
high personal factors. And let lecturers with poor performance leave the polytechnics or
convert them to non-academics than wasting polytechnic resources to retain them.
